Yamboon Park
YAMBOON PARK
Set on approximately 30 acres, in the peaceful Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains. The property is a uniquely Australian mix of grazing paddocks and untamed bushland. We are located 20 minutes from Blackheath - so easily accessible and conveniently close to all the wonderful things the Blue Mountains has to offer.
Livestock has now been drastically reduced on the property to allow for an ecological restoration
project involving bush regeneration and wildlife conservation and corridors. Today, the project – Cox’s River Rest is fully operational, and involves sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism, and an Icelandic Horse Stud. Wildlife has returned in numbers – we have even seen platypus in the river. We proudly develop and apply sustainable farming practices - our cows are some of the healthiest and happiest in the country due to a diet supplemented with fresh veggie waste, especially in the dry summer months.
Yamboon Park is one of the earliest settler structures built in the Valley. Prior to this, many Indigenous Families lived and farmed in the Valley and we are starting to learn more and more about them and their land management practices.
ACCOMMODATION
The old part of the house itself was built by a number of the early settlers using a rammed earth technique, hence the thickness of the wall. In this section of the house there are four bedrooms – one with a queen bed, two with twin beds, and one bunk room for four. The bathroom has a bath, great view, and heated floor when needed.
The bedroom has a queen bed, and there is a pull-out couch. There is an additional charge of $50 for linen etc for this if you have an additional guest.
There is a breezeway across to a new addition to the living area of the house. This has two wood heaters that we do recommend you use; they warm up the house beautifully. There is a queen bedroom, a bathroom and laundry also in this section.
