The Drover's Cottage

Set on approximately 300 acres, in the peaceful Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains. The property is a uniquely Australian mix of grazing paddocks and untamed bushland. We are located 20minutes from Blackheath - so easily accessible and conveniently close to all the wonderful things the Blue Mountains has to offer. Livestock has now been drastically reduced on the property to allow for an ecological restoration project involving bush regeneration and wildlife conservation and corridors. Today, the project –Cox’s River Rest is fully operational, and involves sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism, and an Icelandic Horse Stud. Wildlife has returned in numbers – we have even seen platypus in the river.We proudly develop and apply sustainable farming practices - our cows are some of the healthiestand happiest in the country due to a diet supplemented with fresh veggie waste, especially in the dry summer months. The Drover’s Cottage was built to accommodate the early farmer who had property in the valley, like many farmers from the early days, his shed next to the house is bigger and grander than his humble abode – the stock and his equipment was what was important. Latter generations built a new shed but left the old in its original condition.
